Over the course of several months, I worked closely with this amazing non-profit to create a new and exciting look for the brand, assist in creating merchandise, video, and invitations for their upcoming special events, as well as designed a 50-page book that has been published, describing the 20 women in the monument and telling LexSeeHer's story. CHARACTER DESIGNS
At the beginning of this project, there were no images of the women to use in marketing materials besides the original monument sketch. I started with the sketch, with permission from the artist, and used Procreate to erase/draw outlines, and Photoshop to create a silhouette of each woman. The "Purple Women" as we call them were used in the book, on the library panels, on social media posts, in videos, and on swag designs.
INVITATIONS & RSVP
Over 500 people attended the unveiling events in May 2024 including descendants of women in the monument, press, educators, political names, families, business owners, and people of the town. Everybody received a paper invitation, an insert with additional information and events, and an RSVP card in the mail.
These were created in Canva!
SWAG & MERCH
Designing merchandise was part of the big push to get everyone excited for the monument unveiling.
I made exclusive MAKE WOMEN VISIBLE buttons and magnets using the purple character designs and a watercolor effect.
We also decided to sell sunglasses and umbrellas since the event would happen 'rain or shine!'
There was also gold and silver jewelry made to showcase some of the animals in the monument. My role was to create clean 2D images from the sketch for the jeweler.

LIBRARY PANELS
LexSeeHer was offered a the display area in the public library for the months of April and May. I designed a 16'x9' panel; the left side mapping out a historical timeline of the 20 women in the monument; and the right side displaying the story of LexSeeHer, the process of building a monument, and additional community projects.
This project was created in Illustrator.
WALKING TOUR GUIDE
The "In Her Shoes" HerStory Trail is a guide for visitors to use to learn about where each women made change in and around Lexington. This fold-up pamphlet includes descriptions of each woman, a map pointing you towards where you can see their mark in Lexington, as well as a monument key.
PUBLISHED BOOK
The "Something Is Being Done" book was a collaborative project written by LexSeeHer's president, Jessie Steigerwald, designed by me, and put together by Betsy Sarles.
I used InDesign to create the layout of the book and design all of the small details like the butterfly boxes, the gutter and the corners, and fonts, the headers, the location of the text, and of course the 'purple women' characters!
